An Albany-based company is manufacturing a carrying case for Apple's portable MP3 player, the iPod.
James Hoehn and Melissa Nigro founded the Albany-based company, Terforma, in 2002.
Terforma launches its first product-a molded plastic case called the iSleeve-this month.
When it was first released in 2001, the iPod's sleek, acrylic and steel design was supposed to make the gizmo fit in pockets.
But iPod aficionados realized that didn't work well.
"In your pocket are keys and coins and things not friendly to your iPod," said Gary Bart, the CEO of an Apple accessories company called Xtreme Mac of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
That created demand for cases and other accessories, said Bart.
