New North Media is launching a 12-week trial of sending digital quality television to home computers in Moncton, N.B. starting in May. New North Media in Saint John, N.B. is the television services development arm of Aliant Inc., which owns four Atlantic telephone companies, including NBTel. Aliant Telecom recently launched its "VibeVision" television in Moncton in January with 123 channels, including community events, Web browsing capability and e-mail access. Now New North Media will be starting the TV broadcast trial using iMagic software, a technology that uses copper phone wires to encode broadcast-quality television using Internet protocol and send it through PCs.
