Altrec.com Inc. president John Wyatt has left the Bellevue-based e-tailer, joining 15 employees laid off since September in cost-cutting moves by the outdoor gear and adventure travel site.
Wyatt, whose resume included management positions at Starbucks Coffee Co., Nike Inc. and Eddie Bauer, left two weeks ago after less than six months at the company.
Altrec CEO Mike Morford, who reassumed the president title, said Wyatt's departure was precipitated by the need to conserve cash and avoid turning to the financial markets for more funding.
Morford said the 2 1/2-year-old company will use the cash it has on hand until Altrec breaks even. Expansion efforts have been scaled back for the time being.
"As far as fund raising, we won't be doing any in the short term," he said, "and in the long term it would not be fund raising in order to stay alive, but to manage growth.
