AMD boosts Athlon Systems with DDR chipset

Abstract

For AMD, the key to taking on the P4 is to emphasize its performance, as opposed to mere megahertz ratings. Since the P4 will outperform the Athlon in terms of pure processor speed, AMD is departing from the usual industry practice and is advertising benchmark results that show the Athlon running memory-guzzling applications. But so far AMD is only making comparisons of the Athlon with DDR memory vs. the Athlon with standard SDRAM.
