APPLE COMPUTER INC.hOpes that the Internet can help restore its fortunes.
At Apple's World Wide Developers Conference last week, Netscape Communications Corp. said it would restructure Netscape Navigator to act as an OpenDoc container. (See"Apple tailors OpenDoc for Internet apps,' April 15, page 1.)
Apple executives announced CyberDog, the company's OpenDoc-based Web browser, and said it plans to incorporate the Java programming environment into as many facets of the Macintosh architecture as possible.
Apple president and CEO Gil Amelio said his first priority was to reorganize the company to face "the megatrends going on around the industry."
