Although simpler to specify than other technologies, pressure measurement devices must be correctly applied if the device is to accurately and dependably perform its function. Quick application tips Pressure sensing elements run the gamut from simple bourdon tubes to more complex strain-gauge technology. Each has distinct advantages as well as disadvantages.
Bourdon tubes are typically used in pressure gauges. These gauges are typically specified with a maximum working pressure of about 75% of the full scale pressure range. If they are to be subjected to severe mechanical vibration, such as air compressor duty, protection is required.
