"Architects are doomed to extinction within 15 years" the director of leading developer Stanhope has predicted.
Ron German, director of Stanhope, whose chief executive Stuart Lipton is chairman of Cabe, claimed that architects will "not exist in 15 years because buildings will no longer be provided in the same way".
Speaking at the British Council for Offices annual conference last week, German predicted that standardisation, use of computers and off- site assembly would confine the architect's role to "tweaking" components.
