Projects, developments and other activity in cities in and around OC
* ANAHEIM
The city recently broke ground on a power plant at East Miraloma Avenue and North Kraemer Boulevard. The project's estimated cost is $250 million. The 9.5-acre lot had been used for mobile food distribution in the area. About half of the land will be dedicated to the project, leaving the rest open for possible expansion. The facility is set to have four engine turbines capable of generating 200 megawatts of electricity. It'll use recycled water, solar panels, thermal energy to cool the control room and underground transmission lines. This project is the first power plant to be permitted in California in two years. Michigan's Barton Marlow Co. is working as the designer and contractor along with Switzerland's ABB Ltd.
