Almost every current projection made points to an increased role for the motor truck in the ever-growing international trade between the US and Canada.
Latest available Dominion Bureau of Statistics figures show that exports by truck from north of the border to the US increased from 20% in 1963 to just over 37% of the total value of exports in 1968.
Despite present political differences between Canada and the US which have developed around such issues as the auto pact and the exchange of energy on a continental basis, almost without exception both manufacturers and transportation people look for increased trade across the 49th parallel during the upcoming years.
However, at what rate trucking will grow vis-a-vis other modes in the international transportation mix, and for that matter at what rate international traffic itself will grow, depends on a multiplicity of factors.
