The battle lines have been drawn and the war is on.
And local business telephone customers in Las Vegas will be the beneficiaries instead of the casualties.
NevTel officially became a competitor in the local phone service market last month when it kicked off service at 10 percent below the regular price of Sprint's service.
And the savings by switching could be dramatic for a multi-line business user.
"Business users could be the main beneficiary of the Telecommunications Act of 1996," said Rehaj Puram, an analyst with Southwest Investors Brokerage. "They are the ones who are the bulk users of service and will save money instantly."
