As students and vocational educators start the new school year, Congress is completing its work for this session. With adjournment expected in early October, Congress must quickly finish on spending bills as well as a number of politically important pieces of legislation.
Vocational education's funding situation has improved dramatically compared to last year. Only 12 months ago, vocational education was facing cuts as high as 28 percent for FY 1996. After significant efforts by AVA to oppose these cuts, most of the funds for these critical programs were restored.
