After two years of negotiations, BAE Systems and Finmeccanica have abandoned their previous plans for closer defence electronics collaboration under the Eurosystems banner. Just six months ago, the two companies said they were working towards two joint ventures - one in Systems Integration (BAE-controlled) and the other in avionics (under Finmeccanica control) - covering business worth euro3.7 billion.
