Abstract
European banks have received a second questionnaire as part of the European Commission (EC) investigation into the terms of use of Thomson Reuters' Reuters Instrument Code (RIC). The EC launched formal proceedings against Thomson Reuters in November, several months after some continental European banks received the first questionnaire on the RIC. The questions in the latest user survey are split into five sections: real-time market datafeeds, market data platforms, pricing, RICs and switching to alternative providers for consolidated real-time datafeeds. The RIC questions look at utilization of the codes, asking users about what areas of the business it is used in, and the number of applications the codes are embedded into.
