Bausch & Lomb Inc. and the Italian company that bought the local company's sunglass business last year are skirmishing over the Italian firm's alleged wrongful use of the Bausch & Lomb name.
The eye-care company last week filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court here alleging that Luxottica Group SpA exceeded a limited-time licensing agreement under which Luxottica could use the Bausch & Lomb name and trademarks.
The suit came a week after Luxottica sought a judgment in a New York City federal court to stop Bausch & Lomb's attempt to cancel a licensing agreement inked as part of the June 1999 sunglass-unit sale.
Bausch & Lomb officials declined to comment on the legal dispute.
