The first, and still the only, fully automated metro in North America, BC Transit's SkyTrain has established an impressive performance record in its first decade of operation.
Opened in January 1986 and extended several times since then, SkyTrain now operates over an 18-mile route from Waterfront station in downtown Vancouver to King George station in Surrey, with a total of 20 stations. Intermodal connections are made at the Waterfront station with BC Transit bus, SeaBus ferry, and West Coast Express commuter rail services.
