Q: You've been running The M.S. Hershey Foundation since 2009. How do you like it?
A: Mr. Milton S. Hershey once wrote that his two greatest gifts to the people around him were the Milton Hershey School and the foundation. The foundation has been such a lightning rod to create connections to people around the area (for culture and education). It's a very rewarding job.
Your history with Hershey goes back a long way.
My father was a Greek immigrant ... who came (to the U.S.) and met Mr. Hershey in 1931 in a hotel in New York City (where my dad was a busboy) ... Mr. Hershey invited my dad (to come work for him) in 1933 because the Hotel Hershey was being built. It represents kind of a European and kind of Mediterranean feel.
