Regardless of religious affiliation, it's hard to avoid gifts this time of year. But during this season, how many of us think about gifting ourselves?
Here you are, running a company, either putting out fires or planning for the long term. When was the last time you gave some thought to where you fit in the big picture - the picture you have likely had a large role in creating? Well, let me suggest that you pick up a copy of Work It Out by Sandra Krebs Hirsh with Jane Kise (Davies-Black Publishing, 1996).
Hirsh, who's based in Minneapolis, is one of perhaps a half-dozen people in the world who have dedicated their careers to exploring and explaining a personal assessment tool called the "Myers-Briggs Type Indicator" (MBTI). Since its inception in 1975, the MBTI has been taken by millions of people in the United States alone, with international participation growing at a similar rate. It is, arguably, the most-used personal assessment questionnaire in the corporate world.
