Skylab Architecture is seeking to reach lofty sustainability goals on a small footprint with its Weave Building design.
The 10-story, 50,000-square-foot commercial building planned for Southwest 13th Avenue and West Burnside Street will incorporate sustainable systems, from top to bottom, with the goal of achieving LEED platinum certification, according to Brent Grubb, the project architect with Skylab.
The mechanical heating system will be able to take excess heat from the building's restaurant and retail space and distribute the heat throughout the structure to other spaces.
