Set your company apart with these branding tips
Branding is a term that many are familiar with but few have completely mastered. This may be due to the fact that much of branding success relies on the consumer, meaning that the company can only do so much.
But there are a variety of tips and strategies to harness and effectively implement a brand image that is memorable and successful enough to increase fondness toward the company and ultimately boost profits.
Before I delve further into this rich and murky subject, I should state that this column is geared more toward smaller shops that do not have the luxury of a hefty marketing department. This is essentially "Branding 101" for firms that do not have the resources to devote employees entirely to marketing and advertising.
With that said, let's get into it. First, the term brand can refer to many different things. A common misconception is that a company's brand is just a logo or a motto, such as "Fastest Motor Repair in the Midwest." In reality, brands can be a design, symbol, term, or any feature that identifies one company's goods and services as distinct from another. Here is why brands are so important. It is an opportunity for a manager to inject creative thought and uniqueness into company strategy. The goal is to be different from everyone else. From this, successful branding can be one of the most effective ways to gain a competitive edge.
