Brandywine Woods subdivision, located at 9320 E. 38th St., is a $4 million project that has a unique claim to fame: It's the first FHA and VA approved modular-housing neighborhood in Indiana, according to Jose Cuevas of Cuevas Associates, the firm marketing Brandywine.
Brandywine's 82 lots, being developed by Hancock Essex Group Inc. of Greenfield, make use of modular construction techniques in order to open the market to first-time buyers.
"Basically, the whole idea is to be able to reach a market that hasn't been reached before -- that is, homes priced in the $50,000 to $60,000 range, with lots included," said Cuevas. "We hope to reach first-time home buyers, and young couples who, otherwise, could not afford to buy a new home."
The subdivision is, he said, probably not the last of its type because modular construction offers cost advantages that in turn can be passed on to the buyers. Thus far,...
