It's safe to call Deer Park a bank magnet.
Already home to branches of the Bank of Smithtown, First National Bank of Long Island and Suffolk County National Bank, not to mention outposts of the big money center banks such as Bank of America and Capital One, the hamlet within a few weeks will play host to a Bridgehampton National Bank branch.
While bank officials could not say when exactly in October the branch will open, it will be the 100-year-old bank's third branch beyond what many consider to be the western boundary of eastern Suffolk County, William Floyd Parkway.
In May, Bridgehampton National opened a branch in Center Moriches; late last month, the bank cut the ribbon on a branch in Patchogue, and in 2009 it unveiled one in Shirley. After Deer Park, the bank's branch count will total 19, not quite on par with larger western Long Island banks such as First National Bank of Long Island, which has 33 branches, and Bank of Smithtown, which has 31.
After this growth spurt, the bank will lie low for a while, Bridgehampton CEO Kevin O'Connor said.
