FAIRFAX, Va., Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gwendolyn Brooks has established the Klappert-Ai Poetry Prize at George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax, Va.
Named after poets Peter Kappert, director of GMU's Writing Program, and Ai, visiting poet at George Mason, the prize is open to all George Mason students for poetry of 60 lines or less.
"The gift provides much needed support for writing students," says Klappert," and it is a way to recognize and reward student accomplishments."
