TELECOMWORLDWIRE-15 March 2001-BTopenworld's customers get chance to trial ISS' Online Scanner product (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com BTopenworld, the Internet business of British Telecommunications Plc, has formed a security partnership with US- based Internet Security Systems (ISS). Under the agreement BTopenworld's broadband service subscribers will get access to Online Scanner, ISS' vulnerability assessment technology for home PC users, free of charge for a trial period of 90 days. After users have downloaded the application, they will be provided with descriptions of discovered risks and instructions on how to protect against breaches of privacy, data loss or corruption due to malicious attack. The system also tells users which e-commerce web sites protect their privacy and which ones do not, enabling them to know when it is safe to perform financial transactions online.
