The Boston University Photonics Center will open a nanophotonics research lab in September, as the university tries to get its piece of the growing interest in commercial development of nanotechnology research.
The 1,000-square-foot lab will qualify as a Class 100 clean room, with space for both permanent and temporary workstations. Photonics Center officials intend to use the lab to observe and characterize nanoscale particles and to explore nanolithography techniques.
The lab will cost an estimated $1.5 million to build....
