* MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS
* Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services and Caritas Health Services will develop a strategic partnership to serve the Louisville, Ky., metropolitan area. Jewish Hospital Healthcare Services is the parent company of a network that includes 60 facilities in Kentucky and southern Indiana. Caritas, part of Catholic Health Initiatives, operates 331-bed Caritas Medical Center and other facilities in Louisville. The organizations will retain their respective faith identities.
* Ardent Health Services, Nashville, Tenn., completed leases with six hospitals that are part of Hillcrest HealthCare System, Tulsa, Okla. The Oklahoma hospitals are: Bristow Medical Center, Cleveland Area Hospital, Cushing Regional Hospital, Henryetta Medical Center, Pawnee Municipal Hospital and Wagoner Community Hospital.
* PROJECTS
* Ground was broken on the $170 million expansion and renovation of Community Hospital North, Indianapolis. The 850,000-square-foot expansion will nearly double the Community Health Network hospital's size and will include a six-story tower, professional office building and parking structure. The tower will include a 22-bed pediatrie wing, 36 neonatal ICU rooms, 48 medical-surgical rooms, and room for 48 additional med-surg rooms. RTKL, Dallas, is designing the project. BSA-Life Structures, Indianapolis, are engineers and EQ International will provide medical equipment planning.
* SSM Health Care-St. Louis will replace SSM St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood with a 158-bed facility. The hospital will be part of a $215 million, 54-acre health care campus that will include a paperless information technology system, outpatient services and a medical office building. It is expected to be completed in spring 2008.
* Littleton Adventist Hospital, Denver, plans an 85,100-square-foot, $38 million expansion project that includes the addition of three floors to the south tower. The additional floors will house 24 intensive care unit beds and 32 medical-surgical beds, bringing the total bed count to 231. Construction will include space for future expansion and...
