With four new rides and four new generators, Butler Amusements is adding new firepower for the 2003 season which has already seen the four-unit show play five dates. The show has bought or is in the process of finalizing the purchase of roughly $2 million in new or lightly used equipment, owner Earl "Butch" Butler told AB.
Butler said he was in the process of closing deals for four new generators that will help ease a costly and time consuming permitting process that forces him to pay exorbitant fees in California due to older generators that run afoul of current air quality standards.
"I've been buying new ones from Gull Wing [Industries, Alta, Iowa] and Quinn Tractor [a Caterpillar dealer out of Fresno, Calif.]," said Butler, whose show is based in Beaverton, Ore., and Fairfield, Calif. "I own 25 generators and I'm purchasing four new this year. I hope to buy four new ones every year until I have all new [ones]."
These are not inexpensive pieces. A 500-kilowatt Gull Wing generator...
