A logistics subsidiary of Milwaukee-based C2 Inc. has been hired to staff and operate the former Pabst Brewing Co. plant in Pennsylvania, where the hotselling Smirnoff Ice malt beverage will be made.
Total Logistic Control, Zeeland, Mich., was awarded a six-year management agreement by Guinness UDV North America Inc. to produce Smirnoff Ice. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Total Logistic Control is a provider of third-party logistics and facility management services.
Guinness UDV North America, the North American arm of Diageo plc, recently purchased the former Pabst brewery near Fogelsville, Pa. Diageo's portfolio of branded beverage products includes Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray, Guinness, J&B, Baileys, Malibu and Cuervo.
The beverage firm has contracted with Total Logistic Control to retrofit the brewery for early 2002 production of Smirnoff Ice, a malt beverage launched in the United States last year. Pabst closed the brewery in September, leaving nearly 400...
