Two software makersare separately extending their groupware applications into the enterprise.
One vendor, Campbell Services Inc., Southfield, Mich., will ship next month its upgraded calendaring/ scheduling software. On Time 3.0 is based on client/server architecture and offers cross-platform support for Microsoft Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, MS-DOS, Apple Macintosh and Unix. The company also will beef up On Time's group scheduling capabilities by adding Windows NT in 1996.
Users said that the software addresses the needs of the enterprise.
"We have different servers that want to share calendars over the WAN, and we've had no problems using On Time," said Todd Greeno, manager of internal communication services at Pfizer Inc.'s U.S. Pharmaceutical Group. "Client/server architecture is very important; it's the way everything is moving."
