The Canadian government announced it would no longer enforce a ban on methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT). Many believed that the ban on MMT would create an additional market for oxygenates, especially ethanol, in Canada, but that market never really materialized. Therefore, lifting the ban should not have a dramatic impact on Canadian ethanol demand, said experts.
