Abstract

"Preserving NSCAD University's beloved Granville Block will ensure that this cultural icon of inestimable value to our community is protected from further erosion, while safeguarding its historic value for future generations," says David B. Smith, president of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. "The Parks Canada National Historic Site funding will address critical conservation needs of our Granville Campus, including window replacements, roof repairs, masonry and stone facade stabilization," he adds. "We are deeply grateful for this generous and timely support."

St. Paul's Anglican Church funding will also help maintain its heritage value. "The congregation of St Paul's considers it a privilege to worship in the footsteps of many who have gone before in St Paul's and have carried the cost of the operation and maintenance of this National Historic Site for 260 years with only occasional relief," said David Sisley, Senior Warden, St. Paul's Anglican Church. "We are facing significant challenges of which roof replacement and repainting the exterior of the church are part. The contribution provided by the Parks Canada Cost Sharing Program for the engineering study has been an essential first step to ensure the future integrity of the building. For this we are very thankful"
