Business activity: The events of Sept. 11 have sent revenue soaring at security companies and led to improvements in technology aimed at safeguarding businesses and homes.
At the forefront of the technological advances is a security company in Fairview Heights that grew a record 20 percent in the last nine months. PASS Security, PASS Systems Group and Virtual Security Technologies are the three divisions that make up PASS LC, which is owned by four partners.
Mark Hinrichs and Ron Noble bought PASS Security in 1994. Brain Sullivan came on board as general manager of PASS Security in 1995, and Steve Boente joined that same year as sales manager. The four make up the partnership, and all but Noble are active in day-to-day operations.
The fastest-growing division is Virtual Security Technologies (VST), which acts as a national distributor for Virtual Vision, a video alarm management product. Virtual Vision is a system that combines live video transmissions with multiple cameras, 30 to 300 days of digital video storage and indoor/outdoor motion detectors.
Virtual Vision is being promoted nationwide and a sales office for that division has been opened in Minneapolis. The product is used locally by AmerenUE, Monsanto and Laclede Gas and is made here by Contract...
