Everyone one talks about the World Wide Web, but the Peterborough, Ont.-based Quaker Oats Company of Canada is spinning a web of a different in a multi-tiered national promotion. New York-based Marvel Entertainment Group's Spider-Man will adorn approximately one million boxes of Quaker's Cap'n Crunch cereal, and kids can collect in-pack tattoos as well as send away for various offers, including a free, three-month comic subscription to Amazing Spider-Man. Quaker is also sponsoring an on-air Spider-Man trivia contest on YTV, which airs both the classic Spider-Man series and a newer version, beginning Feb. 10. Barry Gilbert, account executive at Richmond Hill, On.-based Sales Promotion Services, which desired the promo, says Quaker hopes to stimulate "Kid requests" for Cap'n Crunch among boys and girls age six to twelve.
