Abstract

Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain P.C. decided that a new and improved intranet site would be a strategic initiative for the firm. The firm wanted an innovative communication tool that would allow them to share information about the firm, provide a centralized location for the day-to-day information the firm's leadership deemed important and provide an interactive means of communication for the firm's key operations areas. LBMC decided to utilize a Microsoft tool called SharePoint, which is an infrastructure for collaboration and a foundation for building Web-based applications with Windows. Ultimately, the goal is to have individual sites for everyone in the firm, which will allow them to more systematically organize and disseminate information. Through a collaboration between SharePoint and the time and billing system, LBMC can run "up-to-the-second" reports on industries, service lines, year-over-year comparisons and even drill down to specific services. LBMC's intranet has become a centralized source of information that is integral to its daily operations. Pages are the home page, marketing, IT tutorial, HR, training, and reports.
