WHAT'S HOT: Several camera vendors, including Casio, have picked up on the popularity of Canon's Digital Elph and its small, stainless-steel body. Casio's sincerest form of flattery, the QV- R4, comes in a stainless-steel body that many will mistake for an Elph--it's exactly the same weight and about the same size, and feels just as well made. The QV-R4, however, has 4-megapixel resolution, compared with the latest Elph's 3.2-megapixel count. In fact, it's strikingly similar in looks and specifications to Pentax's Optio 430RS, and the QV-R4 has a Pentax lens. Neither company would admit to any manufacturing agreements.
Whoever makes it, the QV-R4 is easy to hold and operate--a feat for a small camera. It's even a bit more friendly than the Elph. One small button lets you preview the most recently taken shot; that's not too unusual, but it's extremely quick. It deletes images quickly, too. Some of the settings are buried deep in...
