Abstract

Catalog Age's top 100 catalog companies by 1992 mail order sales are presented. General merchandisers J.C. Penney and Sears Roebuck & Co. head the rankings. The top 100 were responsible for $29 billion in mail order sales in 1992, up 15% from the $25.3 billion total in 1991. Three product categories account for half of all markets: computer products, apparel, and business supplies. Some 23 of the 100 mailers sell computer products. Apparel catalogers occupy 5 of the top 10 and 17 of the 100 spots, while business supplies catalogers occupy 11 spots.
