Smith appointed chief strategy officer
Kelly Smith was appointed Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and Mercy Health's chief strategy officer for Michigan. As a member of the Michigan executive team, Smith will act as an expert resource and adviser to statewide leaders to strengthen and drive strategic and business competencies across Michigan. Her appointment represents an expansion of Smith's previous responsibilities within Mercy Health in West Michigan to a statewide focus, while keeping its management structure lean and responsive.

Kalamazoo Valley Museum's Wednesday program, Animal Instincts, offers free art animal crafts focused on what makes different animals unique. The program runs through Aug. 15 (no program July 4), from 1-4 p.m.
The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts appointed Juana Williams as exhibitions curator.
AWARDS
Ella Carr from Grand Rapids City High School is the recipient of United Way Heart of West Michigan's Student Service Award. Ella completed more than 75 hours of volunteer service this year and was awarded the Gold Certificate of Distinction for Commitment to Service.
