Since the addition of 40 new lawyers in February to the law firm of Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps, three partners and an associate have left the firm.
Another partner is also considering leaving.
Although one source said the lawyers were concerned about potential conflicts between new and existing clients of the firm, only one said the acquisition played any role in his departure.
Luce Forward managing partner Scott Sonne said the addition of the 40 lawyers with established practices is still an "extraordinary opportunity" that will give the firm a national presence. The 40 lawyers came from the Los Angeles-based firm of Adams Duque & Hazeltine.
Among them is Mitchell Lathrop, one of the top-billing attorneys at Adams Duque.
Lathrop brings the St. Paul Companies, a Minnesota-based insurance firm, and other clients in an environmental coverage practice reported to be between $5 million and $10 million a year.
By adding attorneys from Adams Duque in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco, the move instantly opened up offices in three new cities for Luce Forward, the second-largest firm in San Diego...
