MultiLedger from CheckMark Software provides a strong, fully featured accounting application for small and midsized businesses, offering a complete suite of accounting modules that includes a GL with full-time audit trail, AP, AR, inventory and an optional add-on payroll module. Job cost tracking, business management, reporting and planning functions are also included. The program is available for both PC and Macintosh computers, and can be deployed on office networks that use both systems. MultiLedger costs $399 for a site license that allows up to 10 concurrent users; the payroll add-on is $249.
Ease OF USE/BASIC FUNCTIONALITY
The primary start interface for the MultiLedger system is the Command Center, a subwindow grid of buttons for the primary functions of the program. These 36 buttons are grouped into categories for Set Up, Transactions and Reports, with most day-to-day sales, receivables, payables, and journal entries occurring in the Transactions section. The program also provides traditional pull-down menus across the top of the window. While this window does not provide graphic dashboards or such, it does offer simplified access to pretty much all data with one click, including summary reports and management tools.
