Taiwan's president, Chen Shui-bian, was shot and injured during a campaign rally on March 19th, the day before the presidential election. The vice-president, Annette Lu, was also shot. The incident throws a turbulent presidential race into utter turmoil, and makes predicting a winner in what was already a close contest all but impossible.
