Sharron Wright always knew she would own her own businessshe just didn't know what type of business she would own.
Inspiration came about three years ago in a package that weighed just 7 pounds, 4 ounces.
As Wright held Ainsley, her newborn daughter, she thought of how she would like to organize all the information she'd been reading about caring for a baby.
"While I was pregnant, I read so many books and listened to so many experts and I thought, 'I need a better way to get organized,' " Wright, 36, said. "And I really wanted to understand what my daughter needed and what works well for her."
So she decided to write a book that let new moms and dads set their own rules.
That way the rules are based on the needs of the individual child, she said. 'This is not a book about scheduling your baby, but it is a way for parents to keep track of feedings, naps, diaper changes and activities that make up a typical day or night.
"It is especially nice for caregivers and babysitters who don't know your baby routines as well as you do."
Her book, "Baby Love Carebook," was published by Dragonfly Design Inc. in 2003. Dragonfly is the Indianapolis graphic design company Wright launched in 1999.
Entrepreneurial spirit
Wright says her entrepreneurial spirit is in her genes.
