Abstract

This experiment is a continuation of a series of experiments designed to study the pion-proton interaction at energies above 1.5 Bev/c. The π- - p differential cross section from 1.5 to 2.5 Bev/c was measured with luminescent chambers by Perl, Jones, and Lai, where the π+ + p differential cross section at the same energy range was measured by Cook et al with spark chambers. This experiment was done essentially with the same technique as the π+ p experiment, where spark chamber pictures were taken when certain coplanarity counters were triggered by the outgoing particles.
