Cisco's (San Jose, CA - 800-3261941, ww.cisco.com) new branch office router/ gateway, the 1750, is the small office version of a series of voiceenabled routers the company has released over the past year. Recently, we set up an evaluation of the 1750 along with its slightly older (and slightly higher capacity) big brother, the 2610. The test was set up to emulate a medium-sized office in the enterprise talking to a smaller branch via a leased-line serial connection.
Both routers shipped to us with the same voice and data cards installed: A oneport serial card for data, and two-port FXO cards (for connecting PBXs) and FXS cards (for connecting analog phones). Cisco also offers ISDN BRI cards for WAN connections, as well as two-port async/sync serial, 56/64 Kbps four-wire CSU/DSU, and twoand four-wire E&M voice interfaces. One slot on the...
