The Buffalo area is one-thirteenth the size of Los Angeles, but though it lacks the population advantage, it has something metropolitan LA does not: The nations top-selling Saturn dealer.
Saturn of Clarence, which sold 2,081 new cars in 2002, was the No. 1 Saturn auto dealership in the country. Except for a freak of nature the previous year, the dealership also would have been No. 1 in 2001, a Saturn official said.
"That year, a dealer in the San Fernando Valley in California edged Scott (Bieler) out. They have a good rivalry going. Scott would have been No. 1 but was shut down by that big snowstorm," said Bob Milot, Saturns eastern, regional manager based in Berwyn, Pa.
