Vendors are not liable for misrepresentation if the purchaser relies on verification from a third party
Within a contract, if the vending party makes a false statement of fact about what they are selling, which then induces the other party to purchase, this is judged to be misrepresentation - a finding that could lead to a contract being rescinded and damages paid.
However, if the purchaser chooses to verify the vendor's statements, or uses a third party...
