An influx of new tenants at Claypool Court will mean the three-level collection of restaurants and retail shops at Washington and Illinois streets will be 95-percent leased in time for this year's holiday shopping season.
"We'll only have one vacancy by the end of this year, and we're working on that one," said Melvin Simon & Associates Claypool property manager Dave Shepherd.
The 60,000-square-foot retail complex has been known for its high turnover rate, but Shepherd said this has been a relatively stable year for the center.
He said a recently launched aggressive marketing plan offering discount coupons and playing on the Claypool's planned connection to Circle Center mall has built interest in the shopping center. As a result, Simon leasing agents have signed five new tenants to long-term leases and two new short-term tenants.
UNICOMP, a computer hardware and software store, has a long-term lease and will open Oct. 20 on the third level. The space was vacated in August by Rosewood Galleries art gallery.
