ELKHART--The way Markus Knipp sees it, hotel renovation is an ongoing process. So it's hard for the manager of the 145-room Ramada Inn to put a start and finish date to the last wave of improvements on the 18-year-old hotel. He figures it's been one-and-a-half years since the improvements got under way.
"Unless you keep constantly upgrading a hotel, people will not come back, especially the business traveler," Knipp said. "The business traveler will not return to a hotel if there's a problem with cleanliness or if the service is not satisfactory."
That's why the Elkhart Ramada, owned by Klemar Inc., has undertaken its massive room-to-room remodeling effort. The renovation plan calls for new furniture in every room, including dressers, desks, beds and lamps, as well as new carpeting...
