The Memorial Day holiday weekend threatened the $200 million mark for the first time, assisted by two mammoth blockbusters and three strong openings in wide release. Of the two blockbusters, 20th Century Fox's Star Wars: Episode II- Attack of the Clones was the top film, with $60 million in its war chest for the four-day holiday frame. The George Lucas-- helmed saga earned $201.3 million in just 12 days. The other blockbuster in the marketplace, Spider-Man, continued to strengthen its box office web and shatter records, as the Marvel Comics superhero caught $35.8 million from a record 3,876 theaters, placing second. With a curve of $333.6 million, SpiderMan is already the sixth-highest-grossing film of all time...
