In 2002, Jonathan Hotchandani drove 2,000 miles home to Wisconsin after finishing his freshman year at the University of San Diego.
Five years later, he is the founder and chief executive officer of Dorm2Dorm Inc., a San Diego-based delivery and storage service aimed at students who travel far and pay plenty for their college educations.
Hotchandani estimates that revenues for 2008 will hit $1 million and then double in 2009. In 2007, Dorm2Dorm reported $350,000 in revenue.
The idea itself isn't new - Massachusetts-based Collegeboxes Inc. was founded in 2000 - but Hotchandani says that most companies are on the East Coast.
