Commentary: Besaw's burger - get it before it's too late?

I had never been to Besaw's - a popular Portland cafe with a longstanding history and a very loyal following - until last Friday night. I had been wanting to go there, and since it had been on my "Burger Quest List" (more about that in a minute), I figured I'd better get there before too much time elapses and it's gone - or drastically changed. For those of you who aren't aware, apparently several houses near Northwest 23rd Avenue and Savier Street might go by the wayside as part of a mixed-use development that's planned. There's speculation that the developer plans to keep the restaurant in its building, but there's still some gray area regarding the details of whether they will build around the restaurant, rebuild parts of it, we just don't know enough yet. Anyway, hence the reason for my rush to try this burger before a year goes by and I still haven't had it and then it's gone. And what if it is one of those memorable burgers?
