Ingram Micro, Tech Data, others look To fill void
Distributors are scrambling to pick up orphaned Daisytek International customers after that company's subsidiaries stopped taking orders last month, executives said.
"As the old saying goes, when sharks smell blood, they start to circle," said Jerry Jones, president of Cannon IV, an Indianapolis-based solution provider. "Everybody wants to get an update on where you're at strategically and who you're partnering with."
Solution providers said Tech Data, D&H Distributing, Ingram Micro, Azerty and Synnex Information Technologies are looking to fill the void left by Allen, Texas-based Daisytek, a $2 billion distributor specializing in office and computer supplies that filed for Chapter 11 on June 3.
Tech Data, for example, has dedicated additional resources to its suppliesand media-specialized business unit, said Monty White, director of product marketing for that unit.
